When History meets the flavors of Normandy…

14 Apr 2025 | News

At the beginning of spring, our private full-day tours of the Battle of Normandy sites are taking on a very special flavor…

In the summer of 1944, Allied soldiers, freshly landed on the beaches of Normandy, discovered the cider products, and especially Calvados, often nicknamed “the devil’s drink” by Americans.

That’s why Normandy Chronicles invites you to meet the passionate local producers, proud to share their know-how. They’ll be keen to present you their ciders, poirés, AOC Pommeaux and AOC Calvados.

At La Cave normande, located in Saint-Cyr-du-Bailleul in the southern Manche region (available on the “From Cobrato Lüttich” tour), you’ll step inside a aging cellar dedicated to AOC Calvados Domfrontais. Among the barrels, you’ll enjoy a tasting of the emblematic products of the Guesdon family’s farm.

On our “Omaha Beach and Allied logisticsprivate tour, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Vergers de Romillyestate, nestled in the middle of its orchards near the German military cemetery in La Cambe. There, Benjamin and its family will guide you through a tasting of their ciders, AOC Pommeau and AOC Calvados, including a 25-year old bottle.

A great way to extend the day and take a moment out of time around exceptional products, before getting back on the road.

Our private tours combining heritage and pleasure are now open for booking for the 2025 season.

Come and experience Normandy differently!
